Orascom Construction Industries (“OCI”) yesterday confirmed, in connection with a public statement by the Algerian state-owned electricity company “Sonelgaz”, that an Alstom/OCI consortium was announced as the lowest bidder for a contract to construct a new combined-cycle power plant in the Ain Temouchent region, 400 km west of Algiers. The announcement was made following a public opening of the submitted bids at 8:00 pm Cairo time. The contract is worth the equivalent of US$ 1.98 billion.
Contract signature is yet to be finalized. More information will be provided at the appropriate time.
